Dr. Emerald Smith is a dedicated optometrist with a lifelong passion for eye care that began in childhood after overcoming sight-threatening eye infections. At just 12 years old, she began shadowing her optometrist, igniting a career path focused on improving vision and quality of life for others.
Dr. Smith gained early hands-on experience in the optical field in 2013, learning to craft glasses from start to finish. She graduated from Purdue University, where she served as president of the Pre-Optometry Club, before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry. There, she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and contributed a published article to the Foresight magazine of the American Optometric Student Association.
Her clinical training included rotations at two veteran hospitals in Florida and a disease-focused externship at Eye Surgeons of Indiana, where she gained extensive experience managing complex ocular conditions. After graduating in 2020, Dr. Smith joined a private practice, treating a wide range of patients and developing expertise in dry eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataract management. She is experienced in routine eye care, medical eye conditions, and pre- and post-operative care for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Now practicing in Colorado, Dr. Smith values building lasting relationships with her patients and delivering compassionate, comprehensive eye care.
Outside the office, she enjoys an active lifestyle with her fiancé and their Aussie-doodle puppy. Her hobbies include hiking, kayaking, Pilates, and golf. She is also a dedicated member of her local church and volunteers at community events.
